Mario has battled with clinical depression, spending 6 months of this year in a mental health hospital, he has also dealt with chronic lower back pain for over 10 years, which was quite debilitating, limiting his everyday activities. “Having spent a total of 6 months in hospital for severe depression, I became very unfit. Problems with my lower back and my knees, and my mental health wasn’t improving. Now that I am attending Exercise Physiology, it is helping with my mental health and Physical health. I am able to move more freely.I look forward to attending every second week.”
Mario is currently completing a daily home exercise program consisting of stretching and strengthening. Since starting at Active One back in September, Mario reports his back pain has almost entirely eased off and he “barely notices it anymore”. He is also able to complete tasks which he was previously unable to do, such as putting shoes and socks on, walking up steep flights of stairs at the Cape Schanck lighthouse, and taking his active puppy Molly for walks.
It has been great to see Mario’s physical and mental improvements over the space of such a short period, and we are excited to see what else he will achieve.
